Director, Women and Children's Rescue Mission and Emergency Shelter - Lighthouse for Women & Children, Oxnard

The Director is responsible to oversee the Mission’s core value of Changing Lives for Good for the women and children we serve through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Provide a complete continuum of care specifically tailored to the needs of the homeless by offering shelter, intervention, substance abuse recovery, case management, education, life skills development, vocational training, employment, and transitional housing. Develop and implement all ministry services provided, planning, goal setting, program organization, budgeting, outcomes measurement, decision making, personnel recruiting, motivating, training, and ministry improvements in alignment with RMA’s Lead Like Jesus culture and Mission, Vision, and Values. Be an advocate for the poor and needy through public education and awareness. Facilitate and model commitment to fundraising, and community and church relations. Ensure collaboration with local churches, agencies, school districts, and government boards to affect an integrated program capable of meeting the felt needs within the community. Assure excellence of recruiting and placement of ministry staff and assure staff’s gifting’s are effectively assessed, cultivated and leveraged for the advancement of the ministry. Encourage direct reports to demonstrating the love of Christ to transform the lives of homeless and addicted people. This is a full-time, exempt position located in Oxnard, CA. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience, and includes benefits.

Program Description - The Lighthouse for Women and Children under the umbrella of the Ventura County Rescue Mission is a ministry of the Rescue Mission Alliance (RMA), a Christian non-profit organization that has been serving the less fortunate in Southern California through emergency and long-term rehabilitation services since 1972. The Lighthouse for Women & Children offers a 9- month residential Life Recovery Program, 30- to 90-day Emergency Shelter (with 6-month Employment Search and transfer to the Life Recovery Program options) and a 2-year Transitional / Sober Living Program.

Qualifications - Must be a committed Christian woman, active in a local church with exemplary character and a proven ability to lead, initiate, problem-solve, disciple, and pray for clients. Desired qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Bible College or seminary preferred) plus a minimum of five years of ministry, management, and non-profit experience; strong writing, computer, and administrative skills. Must be a collaborative leader with excellent managerial skill, strong relational and team building skills. Gifted in organizational development with strong strategic planning abilities. Creative and logical problem solver with demonstrated successful experience and understanding of discipleship or addiction recovery. Ability to develop budgets and manage expenses.

Production Worker/Relief Cashier (Part-Time) - Oxnard Bargain Center, Oxnard

Summary - The Production Worker/Relief Cashier is responsible for assisting the production crew to complete all necessary tasks in order to meet production goals in a timely manner. Therefore, their responsibilities may change based on the needs of the business. The Production Worker/Relief Cashier reports directly to the Thrift Store Supervisor and may also get direction from the Lead. This is a part-time, non-exempt regular position. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is eligible for overtime.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Duties include, but not limited to preparing, sorting, hanging, cashiering, unloading and cleaning items donated for sale at the Thrift Store.

Cashier - Oxnard Super Thrift Store, Oxnard

Summary - The cashier position will assist Associates. This is a full-time, non-exempt regular position located in Oxnard, California, reporting to the Production Supervisor. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is eligible for overtime and benefits according to applicable guidelines.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Greet and assist customers on sales floor, ring up transactions and wrap or bag purchases, keep workstation clean and orderly at all times, display cases neat and full of merchandise, call for a second cashier when assistance is needed, excellence in math, follow all policies and procedures in cashier handbook, know and adhere to store policies and procedures, Answer telephone and use paging system, be alert for shoplifters, price tampering and familiar with basic donation procedures and Rescue Mission Alliance directory extensions.

Qualifications - High school diploma, GED or equivalent, demonstrated work ethic with consistent attendance and punctuality, must be cleared for cash handling including drug screen and background authorization, maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties including the ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Development Assistant - San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission, North Hollywood

Summary - The Development Assistant supports our Home Again Capital Campaign to raise $6 million for the remodeling and opening of a 90-bed family shelter in Northridge. The primary focus of this position is providing the ground work for the individual donor portion of the campaign, developing and cultivating existing and potential individual donors, and managing the general administration of the campaign.

The Development Assistant will manage the database and departmental systems and support a wide range of relationship-building activities and special events. The position involves occasional weekend and evening assignments. This is a full-time, non-exempt regular position located at the San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission in North Hollywood, CA and reports to the Director. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is eligible for overtime and benefits according to applicable guidelines.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Participate in campaign strategy sessions with the Director, Community Relations Coordinator, and other members of the Capital Campaign Team for lead and major donor solicitation. Provide scheduling and planning support to the Director and other members of the Capital Campaign Team. Provide administrative support - including, but not limited to, organizing meetings and coordinating follow-up tasks- to the Capital Campaign Team and other committees that may be staffed by the Director. Maintain and expand the donor database to include moves management and biographical information. Assist in the planning and execution of donor fulfillment programs, cultivation activities, and fundraising events and with special events (e.g. tours, etc.). Conduct donor/prospect research. Department or organization-related duties or special projects as directed. Work as a team with other Rescue Mission Alliance employees to the greater good of the overall ministry. Participate in applicable staff meetings, training sessions, and other San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission or Rescue Mission Alliance meetings. Participate in San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission cross-ministry events.

Qualifications - Committed Christian, in agreement with Rescue Mission Alliance Statement of Faith and active in a local church. Mature, responsible, and teachable. Valid CA driver’s license. Shelter Staff - San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission, North Hollywood

Summary - The primary function of this position is to oversee all aspects of our 28 bed emergency family shelter for residents and volunteers regarding recreation, meals, chores, sleeping arrangements, security, and program compliance. Significant opportunities exist for relational and spiritual ministry with residents experiencing difficult times. This position reports to the Assistant Director and is a full-time, non-exempt regular position located in San Fernando Valley. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is eligible for overtime and benefits according to applicable guidelines.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Oversee all shelter functions such as recreation, meals, chores/cleanliness, sleeping arrangements, security, spiritual content, and program compliance. Opening and/or closing the shelter at specified times which includes, signing residents and volunteers in and out, ensuring that meals are adequately prepared and provided and managing the assignment of bunks, storage spaces, and chores for residents. Responsible for the security and safety of shelter residents, volunteers, and rescue mission property while on duty, maintaining a clean and orderly facility per mission and health department guidelines, communication and required documentation and other duties as assigned. Assist in the oversight of Biblical spiritual content by way of teaching and counselling individuals and groups, may assist in preparing and serving meals. Supervise residents for the shelter and volunteers. Participate in monthly staff meetings.

Qualifications - Vibrant follower of Jesus Christ, gospel concern for lost and broken society, must be a committed Christian, good standing in a local church, able to work well with residents in a supervisory role, assisting in giving counselling, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, including the ability to delegate. Computer skills, Microsoft office, must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. Relevant education and work experience is expected, (bilingual Spanish/English preferred). Program Manager - Central Coast Rescue Mission, Santa Maria

Summary - The Program Manager is responsible for developing and administering strong and sustainable ministry programs for the Central Coast Rescue Mission (CCRM) including an 18-bed men’s residential recovery program and several outreach ministries. Supervise program assistants and interns, in addition to overseeing a robust program of dedicated volunteers. Must have a heart for the homeless and at-risk population, and be an excellent strategist, team builder, and decision maker with ability to plan for and achieve outcomes. This is a full-time exempt ministry position reporting to the CCRM Director. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience and includes benefits.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Develop, implement, and maintain a strong phased residential recovery program, establish Biblically-based curriculum consistent with CCRM/RMA theory of change, develop transformational outreach ministries including CCRM’s SOS outreach food truck that serves a meaningful number of clients through engaged program and community volunteers. Recruit and cultivate a robust volunteer base, foster a culture of meeting high standards and performance with necessary systems of accountability, ensures that case notes, journals, and statistics are up to date. Prepare and qualify program members for achieving stated outcomes, leverages thrift store operations for benefit of both program (vocational training) and community awareness. Promote an attitude of safety following RMA safety program by ensuring compliance, modeling safe work practices, providing safety training and recognition for safe behavior and practices, collaborates with administrative lead on maintaining mission’s vehicles and facilities, will assist Director with special projects for the program.

Supervisory Responsibilities - Program Manager will supervise program assistants and resident interns in their various assignments including weekend and evening assignments, maintain a high-level of integrity, camaraderie, and professional relationship with staff. Responsible for recruiting, development, training, and performance evaluation of direct report staff, providing feedback on strengths and development needs.

Qualifications - Committed Christian, in agreement with Rescue Mission Alliance Statement of Faith and active in a local church, must have a firm grasp of the Bible approach for treatment of addictive disorders, BA or Bible School/Seminary degree in related field or equivalent exp., plus 5 yrs. ministry, management, supervisory and non-profit experience, lead a team, develop and execute strategies, Valid CA D.L., PC knowledge including Excel, Word, Outlook, etc. Excellent people, interpersonal and organization skills, work under deadlines, attention to detail, work independently and as part of a team. Director - Victor Valley Rescue Mission, Victorville

Summary - The Director of the Victor Valley Rescue Mission (VVRM) is responsible to oversee the development and implementation of all services provided through VVRM in response to the community needs and in alignment with RMA’s mission, vision, and values. This is a full-time, exempt position located Victorville, CA, and reports to the Regional Vice President of Ministries. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience, and includes benefits.

The Director will oversee a growing ministry to the hungry, homeless, and addicted, including a residential Life Recovery Program and thrift store operations. The Director will be responsible for planning and goal setting, program organization, budgeting, decision making, personnel recruiting and motivation, training, and ministry development.

The Director will also collaborate with local churches, agencies, school districts, and government boards to affect an integrated program capable of meeting the felt needs within the community, and facilitate and model commitment to the ministry of fund-raising.

Program Description – The Director of the Victor Valley Rescue Mission, under the umbrella of Rescue Mission Alliance (RMA), a Christian non-profit organization that has been serving the less fortunate in Southern California through emergency and long-term rehabilitation services since 1972. The Victor Valley Rescue Mission (VVRM) is a vital part of RMA that offers outreach and emergency cold weather shelter to families, as well as a men’s drug and alcohol recovery program in Victorville, CA.

Qualifications - Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and active in a local Christian church. BA (Bible School/Seminary) or equivalent in related field plus five years ministry, management, supervisory and non-profit experience. Experience in directing the operations of a rescue mission or similar ministry preferred. Must have compatible theology with RMA core values and Statement of Faith. Must be committed to serving God and the body of Christ. Must have a teachable spirit and be committed to team participation. Genuine burden to have people come to Christ and to have their needs alleviated. Must be an initiator who can work under deadlines. Must have good leadership abilities: motivation, communication, judgment, coordination, measuring results, and reporting. Sincere desire to be a "Servant Leader" in actual everyday situations. Excellent people skills; with proven ability to motivate staff, pastors, and community leaders. Ability to raise funds for ministry - preferably with proven experience.
