Guest Services Associate (Part-time) Lighthouse for Women and Children, Oxnard

Director of Thrift Store Operations, Oxnard

Organization - Rescue Mission Alliance (RMA), a Christian non-profit located in Oxnard, CA is seeking a Director of Thrift Store Operations. Responsibilities include working with the CEO and CFO to provide leadership, direction, and management of this high volume enterprise that converts donated goods into funds used to help those in need. Reports monthly on accountability for plans, activities, and results against budget. Works with Call Center Manager to coordinate solicitation of GIK donations. Works with Thrift Store leadership team to hire, train, and develop all dispatch, production, and retail employees. Ensures facilities and equipment for operations are well maintained. Director, Lighthouse for Women and Children - Lighthouse for Women & Children, Oxnard

Organization - The Rescue Mission Alliance (RMA) is a Christian non-profit organization that has been serving the less fortunate in Southern California through emergency and long-term rehabilitation services since 1972. RMA partners with local churches to meet the spiritual needs of the people we serve. The Lighthouse for Women & Children’s Life Recovery program and Emergency Care Program, offers a complete continuum of care specifically tailored to the needs of homeless women and women with children by offering shelter, intervention, substance abuse recovery, case management, education, life skills development, vocational training, employment, and transitional housing.  

Summary - Reporting to the Director of Ventura County Rescue Mission, the Lighthouse Director is responsible to oversee the development and implementation of all ministry services provided, planning, goal setting, program organization, budgeting, decision making, personnel recruiting, motivating, training, and ministry improvements in alignment with RMA’s Mission, Vision, and Values. Encourage direct reports to facilitate and model commitment to fundraising, assist with community and church relations, ensure collaboration with local churches, agencies, school districts, and government boards to affect an integrated program capable of meeting the felt needs within the community. This is a full-time, exempt position located in Oxnard, CA. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience, and includes benefits.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities - This position will oversee a growing ministry to the hungry, homeless, and addicted women and women with children in Ventura County, including communicating to individuals, churches, civic groups, and other organizations to solicit financial and volunteer support and educate the community regarding our ministry.

Qualifications - Desired qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field plus a minimum of five years of ministry, management, and non-profit experience; Bible School / Seminary degree preferred. Must be a committed Christian woman, member of a local church with exemplary character and a proven ability to lead, initiate, problem-solve, disciple, and pray for clients. Volunteer Coordinator (Part-time) - Lighthouse for Women & Children, Oxnard

Summary - The Volunteer Coordinator oversees all volunteers and volunteer related events for the Lighthouse for Women & Children. This position is also responsible for creating and sustaining relational connection and coordination with volunteers, engaging them in vitality of service and our purpose. In addition, this role will plan and oversee key mission events throughout the year. Working in direct collaboration the other staff, the coordinator will ensure management of community partners through recruitment, selection, equipping, and leading of volunteers.  This is a part-time, non-exempt regular position reporting to the Director. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is eligible for overtime.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Represent the work of the Lighthouse to the community in a truthful, compelling way through presentation and relationships, work closely with staff to develop and sustain a volunteer centric culture, administratively support partnerships with area churches, agencies, and individuals, Maintain documentation of volunteer process (filing, organizing, etc), Manage volunteer inquiries through email, phone, personal contact, and presentations, database and schedules, oversee the volunteer recruitment, selection, equipping, and leading the Lighthouse, work collaboratively with other Rescue Mission Alliance Volunteer Coordinators, and other staff in order to support and implement Church Partnership initiatives and strategies. Support and participate in Volunteer trainings, partnership overviews, and other community partnership public speaking opportunities. Plan and organize special events throughout the year, provide occasional support to the Director for donor follow-up and development, work as a team member, participate in staff meetings, training sessions, participate in the Lighthouse cross-ministry events, supervise volunteers as a part of their regular duties and assigned staff for special events.

Cashier - Oxnard Super Thrift Store, Oxnard

Warehouse Worker (Full-time) - Oxnard Bargain Center, Oxnard

Summary - The Warehouse Worker position will assist production crew and retail staff to complete all necessary tasks in order to complete production goals. This is a full-time, non-exempt regular position located in Oxnard, California at Oxnard Bargain Center and reports to the Production Supervisor. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is eligible for overtime and benefits according to applicable guidelines. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Maintain organization and cleanliness of production and warehouse including parking lot and front entrance of store, relieve Janitor duties when needed, close production and staging areas, front area support (hangers and carry out), separate salable items from recycle, baler, and trash. Unload trucks when necessary, operate forklift, perform ‘floater’ and ‘unloader’ duties, put out remaining merchandise onto sales floor, and load textiles and e-waste. Make sure all recyclables are labeled and in compliance with EPA. Safely negotiate in a variety of environments, such as stairs, uneven surfaces, daily communicate with call center/dispatch, daily trips to local refuse, inspect all vehicles and maintain vehicle supplies such as gas, oil, water, tires, etc. Ensure vehicle is in proper working condition, keep vehicle maintenance record, communicate with Receptionist by use of two way radio. Smith System training, read and understand Thomas Guide, obey all traffic laws, comply with all Federal, State and local laws regulating safe driving and Rescue Mission Alliance policies and procedures. Security Guard - Valley Super Thrift Stores, Reseda, Sun Valley, and North Hollywood

Summary - The Security Guard position is responsible for the safety and security of San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission and Thrift Stores, customers, guests, and staff. This is a full-time, non-exempt regular position located at the in the San Fernando Valley (Reseda, Sun Valley, North Hollywood), reporting to the SFV Area Manager. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is eligible for overtime and benefits according to applicable guidelines.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Provide a visible security presence to ensure the safety and security of RMA facilities, customers, guest and staff, patrol premises to detect and prevent suspicious occurrences, theft, unsafe conditions and potential conflicts, enforce parking rules and Thrift Store policies and procedures. Respond to and investigate potential situations, warn violators of rule infractions, apprehend or evict violators from premises when necessary, observe and report in writing any unusual activity or potentially dangerous situation, contact supervisor if situations escalate or presents a danger. Fill out DAR / Incident Reports and Victim / Witness Reports, pay attention to significant details, follow patrol orders and post orders to the letter, phone for assistance when needed (Police, Paramedics, Fire, etc.), secure all gates, windows, doors, entries, buildings, freezers, pantries, etc., perform security “safety sweeps” of the main floor twice an hour. Loss prevention (apprehension of suspects), carry out and receives donations when necessary.

Qualifications - High school diploma, GED or equivalent. Maintain physical condition to ensure ability to lift up to 60lbs., lift boxes, stand for periods of time, and sustain extensive walking. Floor Associate/Cashier - Reseda Super Thrift Store, Reseda

Summary - The floor associate reports directly to the Thrift Store Supervisor, but may get direction from the lead. The floor associate / cashier will be responsible for maintaining all aspects of the sales floor. This is a part-time, non-exempt regular position located in Reseda, California. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is eligible for overtime.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Put new merchandise (bric and brac and accessories) out on floor, clean shelves/floor, put new shoes on floor and organize shoes by color, sort clothes coming from production by size and color before putting out on floor, organize the entire floor and remove all empty hangers at the end of the day, pull and do markdowns of clothing, accessories, bric and brac as instructed, clean bathrooms as needed, greet and assist customers as needed on sales floor, ring up transactions and wrap or bag purchases, keep workstation clean and orderly at all times, be alert for shoplifters and price tampering, keep display cases neat and full of merchandise, display and rotate jewelry, call for a second cashier when assistance is needed, help donors with donations as needed, follow all policies and procedures in Cashier Handbook, know and adhere to store policies and procedures, answer telephone and use paging system, be familiar with basic donation procedures and RMA directory extensions.

Qualifications - Experience a plus but not required, demonstrated work ethic with consistent attendance and punctuality, must be able to demonstrate excellent teamwork, and be able to multi-task, able to lift, push, pull, reach, kneel, sort and stand for long periods of time, able to lift up to 30 lbs. frequent trips up and down a flight of stairs to perform duties on 2nd floor work area. Shelter Staff - San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission, North Hollywood

Summary - The primary function of this position is to oversee all aspects of our 28 bed emergency family shelter for residents and volunteers regarding recreation, meals, chores, sleeping arrangements, security, and program compliance. Significant opportunities exist for relational and spiritual ministry with residents experiencing difficult times. This position reports to the Assistant Director and is a full-time, non-exempt regular position located in San Fernando Valley. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is eligible for overtime and benefits according to applicable guidelines.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Oversee all shelter functions such as recreation, meals, chores/cleanliness, sleeping arrangements, security, spiritual content, and program compliance. Opening and/or closing the shelter at specified times which includes, signing residents and volunteers in and out, ensuring that meals are adequately prepared and provided and managing the assignment of bunks, storage spaces, and chores for residents. Responsible for the security and safety of shelter residents, volunteers, and rescue mission property while on duty, maintaining a clean and orderly facility per mission and health department guidelines, communication and required documentation and other duties as assigned. Assist in the oversight of Biblical spiritual content by way of teaching and counselling individuals and groups, may assist in preparing and serving meals. Supervise residents for the shelter and volunteers. Participate in monthly staff meetings.

Qualifications - Vibrant follower of Jesus Christ, gospel concern for lost and broken society, must be a committed Christian, good standing in a local church, able to work well with residents in a supervisory role, assisting in giving counselling, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, including the ability to delegate. Mission Services Coordinator - Victor Valley Rescue Mission, Victorville

Summary - The Mission Services Coordinator acts in oversight of the Victor Valley Rescue Mission food pantry, emergency food services and community outreach dinner. This is a full-time, non-exempt regular position located in Victor Valley and reports to the Director. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is eligible for overtime and benefits according to applicable guidelines.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Function under the direction of the Community Relations Coordinator and Director. Attend staff and training meetings. To act in oversight of the Victor Valley Rescue Mission outreach programs. Provide oversight of kitchen and afternoon meals, maintain pantry, hygiene closet and storage areas. Prepare food pantry items to be transported to all locations. Provide oversight of clothing distribution. Develop weekly menus and prepare community outreach meals. Coordinate with other agencies regarding food distributions. Maintain daily upkeep of mission. Responsible for all food and log-in all donations. Supervisory responsibilities with oversight of Life Recovery Program students and community volunteers will report to Community Relations Coordinator and Mission Director.

Qualifications - Committed Christian, in agreement with Rescue Mission Alliance Statement of Faith and active in a local church. Inventory control, computer records, customer service, organizational and communication skills, time management, multi-task, heavy lifting up to 60 lbs. standing for long periods, able to work with people and large groups. Valid CA driver’s license. Spanish speaking a plus. Driver/Floater (Part-Time) - Victor Valley Super Thrift Store, Hesperia

Summary - The Driver/Floater position reports to the Store Supervisor, located at Victor Valley Super Thrift Store in Hesperia, CA. Duties include picking up donations throughout the Victorville area. In addition to the driving the position involves filling in where needed. Mostly this will involve production, sorting, hanging, tagging, and pricing. This is a part-time, non-exempt regular position and may require overtime and/or weekend work. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience, this position is overtime eligible. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Load and unload truck, utilizing proper lifting techniques and the appropriate tools and equipment provided, asking for assistance with awkward or items too heavy to be moved by one person. Safely negotiate in a variety of environments, e.g. steep stairs, uneven surfaces. Prior to daily route, inspect all vehicles and maintain vehicle supplies such as gas, oil, water, tires, etc. to ensure vehicle is kept in proper working condition, keeps vehicle maintenance record. Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles to supervisor. Read and understand the Thomas Guide, maps and follow written and verbal geographic directions, obey all traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures. Communicate with Receptionist by use of two way radio. Comply with all Federal, State, and local laws regulating safe driving, and RMA policies and procedures, Ensure any accident or injury is promptly reported. Maintain a safe driving record and appropriate driver's license classification while operating company vehicles. Attend all safety matrix and driver meetings, comply with RMA safety program. Ability to reach, bend, and lift boxes, furniture, etc. into and out of delivery truck. Able to do extensive driving in a variety of road and weather conditions, drive a box truck and/or cargo van.  Consistently demonstrate the ability to work safely. Possess a team player attitude and ability to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds. Have excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, requires strong customer service orientation, able to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.

Operations Assistant - Central Coast Rescue Mission, Santa Maria

Summary - The Operations Assistant is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all rescue mission facilities, automobiles, and non-office equipment, as well as special projects related to the same. This position will report to the Administrative Lead. This is a part time, non-exempt regular position located in Santa Maria, California. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is eligible for overtime.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities - 

Automobile:
Ensure proper automobile maintenance and repair; this includes the SOS truck and its equipment, ensure completion and reviews auto safety inspections, ensures all licensing and registration and MVA.

Repair and Maintenance:
Ensure high standard of repair and maintenance of CCRM facilities including daily custodial work; this includes the Power of God kitchen, bi-monthly inspections are complete and reviewed and sent along to the Director, encourages and teaches Safety to program members; reinforces safety training in daily operations, ensure that quarterly maintenance inspections are complete and that any work orders are complete and coordinated with RMA Facilities.

Purchases and Transportation:
Inventories and purchases food and supplies for CCRM operations, keep all food and supplies in good repair, assists Administrative Lead in other driving tasks – office supply, food bank, post office, etc.

Collaborations:
Collaborates with CCRM team on events, community events, and drives, etc. Collaborates with Administrative Lead on special projects at CCST.

Other Duties:
Encourages a culture of positivism, grace, good-cheer at both locations, runs various routine errands as necessary, work non-standard office hours (split-shifts and weekends) as needed to facilitate events and program assistance, participates in scheduled staff meetings, one-on-one meetings with the Director and all safety training sessions, fosters and encourage teamwork within the Central Coast Rescue Mission, assists with transportation for program men and kitchen staff, complies with and promote the RMA safety program, performs other related duties and projects assigned by the CCRM Director, Maintains, process, and update files, records, and other documents. The assistant will supervise program members and volunteers to carry out the operational duties around the mission.

Community Relations Coordinator - Central Coast Rescue Mission, Santa Maria

Summary - The Community Relations Coordinator is responsible for developing effective strategies to build exciting new partnerships with the Central Coast Rescue Mission (CCRM) for long-term growth, while also meeting near-term local and regional goals. This position also oversees the mission’s volunteer ministry. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Mission Director. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience. Essential Duties & Responsibilities - 
Community Relations and Development: Develop, supervise, and evaluate strategies that promote community partnerships through community awareness – community events, drives, media, chamber, ministerial association, and other community groups. Strategic relationship development with local churches, businesses, organizations, and individuals, identifying how we can best help each other. Mid-major donor and First-time donor development efforts; collaborate with the director on growing donor relationships. Develop and present to donors and sponsors compelling business proposals to secure long- term commitments and implement methods of vision casting to inform key donors about the progress and performance of their contributions to CCRM. Contacting donors, providing on-site tours, answering questions and requesting ongoing support of Mission’s endeavors. Corporate and Foundation sponsorships. Increased GIK, awareness, promotions, and volunteer engagement for our Thrift Store. Will also work in collaboration with the other staff in order to support and implement the mission’s community events, drives, and other special events. Work in close accord with the Mission Director and Administrative Assistant to develop and manage special events: i.e. The Great Thanksgiving Banquet, The Christmas Celebration, Donor Appreciation Event, and other events as needed.

Volunteers: Develop agency relationships that enhance Central Coast Super Thrift (CCST) volunteer cultivation; collaborate with CCST manager on CCST volunteer engagement and agency follow-up. Develop and supervise a volunteer leadership team (especially from local churches) to develop and offer regular community outreaches. Collaborate with the director to establish and cultivate a development-minded advisory board for the mission. Work closely with staff to develop and sustain a volunteer centric culture, utilizing volunteers in every possible capacity and nurturing their development. Measure the contribution volunteers are making to the mission’s financial growth and determine the best path for volunteers to become cash and GIK donors. Engage volunteer groups in the mission’s outreach events – SOS truck, outreach dinners, food pantry, and holiday events including the Christmas Toy Drive. Emphasize volunteer group participation where possible. Oversee a team of volunteers to administrate the mission’s volunteer ministry. Collaborate with other CCRM departments for opportunities to engage more volunteers

Outreach: Work with the Director and staff to ensure that each outreach site is suitable and supports the Mission’s ministry goals, and is safe and a good use of the Mission’s resources, train and supervise CCRM outreach staff to properly engage volunteers at outreach. Ensure that volunteers are properly engaged in outreach. This includes, but is not limited to sign-in, orientation, safety, applications, orientation, and follow-up.

Qualifications -  Committed Christian, in agreement with Rescue Mission Alliance statement of faith and active in a local church.-  Excellent people skills, proven ability to lead others, Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong organization skills, supervisory, conflict management and time management skills, able to balance a large group of diverse projects simultaneously. A servant leader with love for all people. Team player recognizing that in a Mission one must wear many hats. Self-starter who will take ownership of program responsibilities.
